the skirt(s)

I loved this skirt when I saw it. And when I saw her tutorial and the sale section at Joann's, I bought some knit fabric.

The knit was on sale for $3.99 a yard and I bought brown and purple (told you I was obsessed with that color). I also had a $10 gift card from my Joann credit card points. So I actually got this fabric for free!

Here's the result:

Yep, my toenails are painted green. I didn't really like them at first, but now I'm trying to figure out which color to get next! There's so many more choices when you're not limited to pinks and reds.

So I'm already planning the brown one, but I'm thinking that it should be about knee length. I think I might go back to joann's though and buy some heather gray (it's just screaming my name....get it?:)

Yep, I made this!

This is one of the projects that I've been working on for the last couple of weeks. I am in love with this secretary's desk. I need a little desk of my own to keep all my "girl junk" off of the trucking desk.

I got the plans off of Knock-off Wood. If you haven't checked out this girl's site, you should. You'll be addicted.
Knock-Off Wood

It's really nice since I can fold up the door and my mess is hidden inside. I was a little chicken to build the drawers like the plans called for though. (well, actually I was too tired. MDF is heavy!) But I found these awesome file folder boxes at the Container Store. They fit perfectly on the bottom shelf.

I don't know if you can tell it or not in the pic, but i painted it a deep purple. I am in love with that color right now. I found some awesome jewelry at Pier One today in the same color:)

Here's a shot of it open...

There's my favorite coffee mug on the coaster Slone made me for mother's day. My new little sew kit from Border's that I scored for $7! It has like twenty Amy Butler patterns in it plus some fabric! And my ipod and my calendar.

And some of the books that I've been reading.

Matt says that I need to quit building furniture. My house is too small. But I am addicted! I'm trying to figure out what to build next;)

What's been happening

Well, for starters, it's been a busy summer so far! Tball two days a week, the regular book work that seems to take up more time, keeping up with the house work, sewing up some cute diaper bags for a friend (pics to come soon). Oh yeah, I built a secretary's desk, but I'm saving that for another post...soon.

I did get to visit with a dear friend that I've only seen a few times since we first met. Her name is Ema and she's a Romanian. My sister Charity and I went to Romania on a missions trip back in 1998. We were only 17 and 15 when we went.  That trip was life changing...realizing that someone our age had lived in communism. Also realizing that my Christian walk was so easy compared to what her parents had to deal with.

 Charity, Ema, Me

Ema was out at Faith Bible Camp this last week. Tim and Twig have been around for as long as I can remember. Twig actually introduced Matt and me to each other (that's a story for another day, I was so embarrassed).

I'll be back this week with more!

the cutest little t-baller

Slone is really liking tball! It's such a fun time for him and he seems to understand the game pretty well. I should say, he's not one of the kids playing in the dirt the whole time.

Here's a little brotherly love thrown in for good measure:)

baby quilt finished!

I am in love with how this quilt ended up! The colors are perfect. I hope Diana loves it too. It's getting delivered today!

custom bag (munki munki)

I finished this bag up this week. A friend asked me if I could make one up for her for a friend with twins, a boy and a girl. The dad is big into fishing and the Iowa Hawkeyes.

I know the fabric isn't fishing, but it's a camping theme. It's kinda hard to find a boy/girl fabric that isn't overly boyish or girly.

I think it turned out pretty sweet. The lining is a little more flowery, a little more girly. Such a great print from Sandi Henderson.

A little peek at the lining of the pockets....we want dad to carry the bag too!

twins?

almost. Can you tell who is who?

I've got to start marking their names on every picture or I'm not going to remember in 10 years!

time flies

I was trying to clean up my flickr account and came across some old pics...

These were taken in August 2007. Time flies ... quickly.
