Merry Christmas!

Well, a day late but I do hope you did have a merry Christmas! We still have one party tomorrow, and I am supposed to bring the dessert. Our oven got fried last week though, during that ice storm we had, because our power was off for so long and surged. So trying to find some desserts that would be yummy for Christmas without baking has been a little bit of a challenge. That means no cookies or cakes:(

Also, have you heard of the new law that has already passed that is going to make all handmade items for children under 12 illegal (without the proper, expensive testing)? Here's the link for the actual law: http://www.cpsc.gov/cpsia.pdf

It covers everything that is for children 12 and under. Yes, that means my little business too. So unless there are some amendments to the law, that's it for tons of baby companies out there. There is some new hope though. Read this from yahoo news: www.finance.yahoo.com/news/Toy-companies-cheer-proposed-apf-13915645.html

Birthdays are the best!

2008 11 29_0286_edited-1, originally uploaded by moreygirl.

No really...I know it doesn't look that way from the pic but Slone really had a terrific time at his party! He wanted a "queen" birthday...that's short for Lightning McQueen from Cars. I made the cake and Gma Susan got him the Longhorn cap. We're not Texas fans, but Slone loves cows:) (His head really isn't that big either, he has on another hat underneath it).

Happy December:)

Freecycle is awesome!

Don't know what Freecycle is? It's a terrific way to get rid of your stuff that you don't want anymore! Since I don't live within any city limits, it's kinda hard to have a yard sale. Plus, I don't want to store it until I do, so I put it on Freecycle. It's great for getting rid of diapers that don't fit. I've also put my old printer on there too.

Well, today I lucked out! This morning a post came through for a heavy duty ironing board and a playstation at the same place. I emailed her and went to pick it up. And it was a Playstation 2! FOR FREE! I was excited, because it's also a dvd player, and we don't have one!

Slone's already getting the hang of it:)

To the very nice & patient lady that is friends with Melissa,

I am so sorry, but I have deleted your email address in my haste to clean up my overfilled inbox! Please know that I haven't forgotten about you, I just don't know how else to contact you:)
I have some new little security blankets made up and they are online!

Does anyone else have this problem?

We have issues...issues with ladybugs. But wait! You are not supposed to call them ladybugs; they are Asian beetles.

Well, I'm done caring. They stink, they bite, they are always in my house. As much as I love these 70 degree, first days of November, I have to agree with Matt and say that I can't wait til it freezes. Then the stinky little beetles will die!
And there is not just one or two, they come in swarms, especially when the sun is shining in my front door.

Also, I'm not a fan of Halloween. But Slone is now:) Here's what he got trick-or-treating at Aunt Renee's.

Lovely, isn't it? Bo is scared to death of it:) So yeah, it was perfect for Halloween. That's as scary as we get:)

Henry's Room

You'll remember that I had made Henry's crib bedding awhile ago. You can see it here.

Well, I thought that you might like to see what Charity did with his room! We saw the stripes idea in the Pottery Barn Kids magazine (I think). I think it's so cute. She worked forever on them:) I would have never lasted that long!

She also found the silly animal prints from a seller on etsy...I don't know his name but I can ask her if you want it. We had fun shopping for the frames for them. She got them for $4 apiece!

I got an email tonight...

the subject read "Sewers – Give us feedback on one of...". Now when I read this, I read it as soo-er. Gross was the first word that came to my mind and why am I getting this crap (no pun intended).
Then I realized it was from "the Sewing panel". Ha! They even addressed me as "Dear Sewer". Then they go on to say how "no two sewers are alike".

Maybe it's late, but that really struck me as funny:) Thought I'd share a laugh:)

Cookies and Sweeties

Today, we baked some cookies.
Yummy cookies.
Cookies that you just can't quit eating cookies.
Cookies that even when you feel sick you still keep eating them cookies.

Yes, they were good. But I don't know if they were that good or if I just don't have any self control.

They are called Cowboy Cookies and the recipe was in the back of Martha Stewart's October magazine. They have oatmeal, coconut, pecans and semisweet chocolate chunks in them.

Here are the boys right before bed. Now why, may I ask you, do they not do this when I am on the phone? It's like I live with a bunch of wild men while I'm trying to talk to my sisters. I still love this though...especially because they did it all on their own:)

Pics of the boys

I took these yesterday. It's been so nice out lately that you can't hardly stay inside. These are a few of my favorites:)

Freebie Desktop Wallpaper

I love all of these calendars that you can put on your computer. You can find a ton of freebies out there if you know where to look. I found this tonight and added the boys. Here's what I see when I pull up my screen:) Of course, there are tons of little shortcuts on it but it's still sweet just the same.

You can follow this link to All Things Visual to get it for yourself!

Spoon River Drive was fun!

Charity and I had a lot of fun this past weekend selling my things! Of course, not everything is gone, but it was fun nonetheless. I'll be back there this weekend too. Don't worry, I'll be putting everything up online next Monday so you can see what all is new!

Can you believe I did not take one single picture this weekend! We were so excited on Saturday morning that I forgot. Then we had to clean up and refold everything that evening. We were so tired on Sunday that it didn't matter. So here are some pics at the "apple store" or Christ's Orchard as you and I would call it:) The boys are totally in love with the turkeys. I have no idea why. They are one of the ugliest birds that I've ever seen.

March of Dimes

I was asked to donate a gift for the fundraiser for the March of Dimes in Peoria. So they got a bag, change mat, pacifier clip, play ball, washcloth lollipop, and a couple of freshies. It turned out really well.

Yes, I am still alive!

I know, I know, it's been two weeks! I can't believe it! I've been working hard on getting everything ready for this weekend at the Spoon River Drive. I'm excited for it and hope that you all can come and visit me there! I'll be at "the Shed". It's in between London Mills and Farmington on Rt 116.

Well, I'm going to get busy now but here is a pic of Bo that is just like his dad:)

Did you ever have this kind of moment?

I was mad the other day because I couldn't find my sunglasses. They weren't anywhere. I figured I must have set them down in a store because I just couldn't find them. So I was at Target the other day and remembered to buy myself a pair (even on a rainy day). I was really proud because I had bought them before I would even need them. Way to go, me! Thinking ahead!

Skip ahead two days later and the new sunglasses were laying on the floor of my van. I thought I'd better put those thing away before I step on them. So I ripped the tags off and opened my little cubby to put them up and there were my long lost sunglasses!

Am I getting old? Is it my kids? Is it my husband? It can't really be me:)

I wish...

...that my purse always looked like this. In a month, it will look like a cash register exploded in it...minus the money. There will be receipts, change, and a bunch of suckers that were given to us at the bank that I always try to hide(I'm not always successful).

That big blue thing in there is my diaper case. It's vinyl and has a rocket ship applique. It's really cute. I bought it from Infantile on Etsy. Since we don't have to have a diaper change every time we're out now, it's nice for keeping everything together and neat.

I couldn't resist keeping this bag for myself! I love the colors, I love the shape of it! I'm going to put two more purses on MoreyGirl tonight!

A couple more bags!

I'm getting ready for the Spoon River Drive and have been making bags. Here are two that I made last night. I'll be putting them on MoreyGirl in a little bit!

I made a new bag!

I love this one! So cool and perfect for fall. Brown on the bottom with Heather Bailey's bright print on the top.

Then I used a cream quilted cotton on the inside with a pocket and magnetic snap.

Interested? Check out atMoreyGirl!

Like father, like son?

Yes, we have a deer head hanging in our living room. No, I don't like it but after 7 years now, I'm used to it. BUT, I do not dust it!
Well, Slone got to go to the Fall Festival this past weekend with his Grandma Windish. And look what he got....

He was so excited about it. I couldn't tell him that I didn't want to hang it in the living room too. So there it is. Slone is so proud:) It was a super long day for him though. He got to ride all of the rides and play with Aunt 'Nee and Jason. He's still talking about it today.

Charity's Sneak Peek

Update: I finished the crib quilt! So sweet! I really love it. Cute little piggies on blue all over on the back of it. All of the fabrics are Japanese fabrics that were picked out from SuperBuzzy.com.
I love that shop!

At our house...

we eat way too much candy! Airheads to be exact.

Our conversation today:

Slone: Do you know what happens when you eat Airheads, Mom?

Me: No, what?

Slone: Your head gets really big like a balloon, then blows up!

Me: Really? Were do you come up with these things?

Slone: I seen it on a commercial.

Oh yeah, we watch way too much tv at our house too!

Labor Day

We went over to Mom's last night for a cookout and I took a few pictures. This is one that I doctored up a little bit. But I think that it came out cool. You can find a great tutorial for it here, hankandwillie. It's a fun photography blog to check out. There are also some freebies to pick up too.this is the original.

Now here's another one that I fixed and it's original. Another tutorial here from momolgy.

And this is my niece, Taylor.

I think that these textures are something different for the pictures. Gives them a old and vintage feel. Just some fun things for a Monday, I mean Tuesday.
